According to the federal ACA law, most people must have health insurance coverage in 2015 or pay a penalty. The penalty, to be enforced by the IRS, will be either 2 percent of household income or a flat dollar amount of $325 per adult and $162.50 per child under 18.

A national health insurance company
A health insurance company that operates an Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace exchange

Health insurance open enrollment for individual/family plans starts on November 15, 2014 and ends on February 15, 2015. Purchase by December 14, 2014, if you want your insurance to be effective on January 1, 2015.
